Servicing & maintenance
General questions about farm machinery servicing and scheduled maintenance
How often should I service my tractor?
Most tractors should be serviced every 250–500 hours of use, depending on the manufacturer's recommendations and the type of work being done. High-intensity use — such as heavy cultivation or harvest — may warrant more frequent checks. Our team can advise based on your specific machine and how you're using it.
What does a routine tractor service include?
A standard service typically covers oil and filter changes, air and fuel filter inspection or replacement, belt and drive checks, fluid top-ups, brake and hydraulic system checks, and a general inspection for wear or developing issues. The exact scope depends on the machine and service interval.
Do I need to service my farm machinery even if it seems fine?
Yes. Most mechanical failures have early warning signs that only show up during a thorough inspection — not while the machine is running normally. Regular servicing catches developing issues before they become costly breakdowns, especially going into peak season.
Can you do a pre-season check on my machinery?
Yes. Pre-season inspections are one of the most valuable services we offer. Getting your machinery checked before calving, silage, or harvest season means you're less likely to face a breakdown at the worst possible time. Contact us ahead of your busy period to book in.

Brands & machinery types
Questions about which brands and machine types we service and supply parts for
Do you service all brands of farm machinery?
Yes. While we are an authorised Case IH and New Holland dealer, our technicians service a wide range of machinery brands used on Waikato farms. If you're unsure whether we cover your brand, give us a call and we'll confirm.
Are you an authorised Case IH dealer?
Yes. Giltrap AgriZone is an authorised Case IH dealer covering the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and Central North Island. Our technicians are factory-trained, including through the Case IH Training Centre, and we have access to the ASSIST diagnostic system used globally by Case IH.
Do you service New Holland machinery?
Yes. We are a New Holland dealer with decades of experience servicing New Holland tractors and machinery across the full range — from T4 and T5 series right through to larger T7 and T8 models, as well as hay, forage, and specialist equipment.
Do you service Manitou telehandlers?
Yes. Manitou is one of the brands we sell and support. Our team can service and repair Manitou telehandlers, both in our workshops and on-farm where practical.
Can you service implements and attachments as well as tractors?
Yes. Our service team works on a wide range of farm machinery — not just tractors. Balers, mowers, loaders, feeders, sprayers, and other implements are all within our scope. Ask our team if you have a specific piece of equipment in mind.
On-farm service
Questions about our mobile service team and on-farm visits
Can you come to my farm to service my machinery?
Yes. Our mobile service team can travel to your property across the Waikato and surrounding regions. For straightforward servicing and many repairs, we can do the work on-site. For larger or more complex jobs requiring workshop equipment, we may recommend bringing the machine to one of our four branches.
How far do your mobile technicians travel?
Our mobile team covers the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and Central North Island regions from our branches in Cambridge, Ōtorohanga, Rotorua, and Taupo. If you're unsure whether we can reach you, give us a call and we'll let you know.
What can be done on-farm versus in the workshop?
Routine servicing, minor repairs, diagnostics, and many common breakdown fixes can be handled on-farm by our mobile team. Jobs requiring a hoist, press, specialised tooling, or more extensive disassembly are better suited to our workshops. Our team will advise you on the best approach for your situation.

Breakdowns & urgent support
Questions about emergency and breakdown response
Do you offer 24/7 breakdown support?
Yes. We have 24/7 availability for breakdown situations. We understand that a machinery failure during harvest, calving, or silage season can cost far more than just a repair bill — which is why we take breakdown calls seriously around the clock.
What's the fastest way to get help with a breakdown?
Call us directly. For urgent breakdown situations, a phone call always gets the fastest response. Have your machine details ready — make, model, and a description of what's happened — so we can assess what's needed quickly.
How quickly can you respond to a breakdown?
Response times depend on your location, the nature of the issue, and current team availability. We prioritise breakdown calls and always aim to respond as fast as possible — especially during peak farming seasons. Call us and we'll give you an honest timeframe.
What if you don't have the part needed for the repair?
Our technicians carry a range of commonly needed parts in their service vehicles, and we have well-stocked parts operations at all four branches. If a specific part needs to be sourced, we'll move quickly to find it — drawing on our supplier and dealer networks to minimise your downtime.
Parts & ordering
Questions about sourcing and ordering farm machinery parts
Do you stock parts for machinery you don't sell?
Often, yes. Our core parts range covers the brands we sell, but we can frequently source parts for other farm machinery through our supplier network. Call our parts team and we'll let you know what's possible for your specific machine.
Can I get parts without knowing the part number?
Yes. If you can tell us your machine make, model, and year — or describe what's failed and bring in the old part — our team can usually identify what you need. The more detail you can provide, the faster we can help.
Do you use genuine parts or aftermarket?
Both, depending on the situation. We stock genuine OEM parts for Case IH, New Holland, and other supported brands, as well as quality-equivalent aftermarket options. Our team will advise on the best choice for your machine — particularly for warranty work, where genuine parts are usually recommended.
Can parts be delivered to my farm?
Ask our team when you enquire — delivery options depend on the part and your location. For urgent situations, we'll work with you to find the fastest solution available.
Need to track down a specific part?
Cost & warranty
Questions about servicing costs, quotes, and keeping warranties valid
How much does a tractor service cost?
Service costs vary depending on the machine, the service interval, any parts required, and whether the work is done in our workshop or on-farm. We're happy to discuss what's involved and give you a clear picture before any work starts. Contact us with your machine details for a more specific conversation.
Will servicing with Giltrap AgriZone protect my manufacturer warranty?
Yes — for machines under warranty, we carry out servicing to manufacturer specifications. For Case IH and New Holland machinery in particular, we are the authorised dealer in this region, which means warranty work is fully covered. If you have questions about your specific warranty terms, our team can advise.
Do you provide quotes before starting work?
Yes. For planned work, we'll discuss what's involved and give you a clear idea of expected costs before we begin. For breakdown situations where the fault needs diagnosing first, we'll keep you informed as we go.
Are there any service contract options available?
Speak to our team about what ongoing service arrangements may be available for your operation. Regular customers with larger fleets often benefit from having a consistent service relationship with our team — we can discuss what might suit your situation.
